Russian and international experts to discuss global trends in engineering education at Irkutsk National Research Technical University.
“Interdisciplinary engineering education: Global trends and management concept – SYNERGY” International Online Conference will be held on the premises of Irkutsk National Research Technical University” on July 11—13, 2016.
The University Press Service reports that the global trends in organizing and managing interdisciplinary research and education projects and students’ involvement, interdisciplinary projects in resource efficient technologies and sustainable development (including projects to preserve Lake Baikal natural fund) will be discussed during the conference.
The scientific forum is held on the sites of five Russian technological universities. It commenced on May 24 at St. Petersburg LETI State Electrotechnical University, then the torch was passed to I. M. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas;on July 4 Kazan National Research Technological University and on July 8 Tomsk Polytechnic University welcomed the Forum participants. The fifth online session will be held by Irkutsk National Research University. Within the framework of the Forum plenary sessions, round tables, panel discussions, videoconferences will take place.

The Polytechnic Museum and ROSIZO opened the Exhibition «Space: Birth of the new era»
On June 11, Exhibition «Space: Birth of the new era» was opened in Pavilion 1 «Central» of the VDNH [The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy]. The Exhibition is to illustrate the amazing epoch of pioneers of space – the days when Russian scientists, researchers, designers, engineers and pilots stepped their feet into the unchartered. Mr. Vladimir Medinsky, Russian Minister of Culture, is to attend the Exhibition Opening Ceremony on June 10.
The exposition is seen as continuation of the sensational project of the last year «Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age» completed in the United Kingdom. The project had been conceived back in 2011 by London Science Museum, and in partnership with ROSIZO, Russian National Museum and Exhibition Center, the unique collection was presented to the public, including original landing modules Vostok—6 and Voskhod-1, Lunokhod-1 lunar vehicle engineering model, as well as personal belongings of Sergey Korolev and Yury Gagarin.
After four years of preparation, the exhibition «Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age» was opened in fall 2015 and was a true miracle, as The Daily Telegraph reported. Tickets were snapped up before it was openedб and several months in advance. The Polytech Museum gives the VDNH visitors chance to see the items, many of which had never before left high-security facilities: first cosmonauts’ suit systems, reentry modules, interplanetary landing vehicles, and rare archival documents.
The exhibition will last till January 10, 2017.
I will be building ships!
In Sevastopol, the contest ‘I’ll be building ships!; got underway. The survey vessel Pioneer-M will be built by student designers within the framework of the contest.
On May 28, 2016, at Sevastopol State University Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russia Federation commenced the first stage of the All-Russian Contest of Student Projects “I’ll be building ships!”
«Today in Sevastopol the unique novel for our higher education contest of students’ projects. It is unique for it will be accomplished with building a fully-functional vessel to be used for learning and research», - Minister said. Mr. Livanov refers to building Pioneer-M investigation vessel for Sevastopol State University by design of gifted student designers. The vessel will be erected on the premises of United Shipbuilding Corporation to be used for ecological monitoring, underwater archeology, etc.Source: Ministry of Education and Science
Network organization of science will allow to resolve tasks of new levels
In Tomsk there was expert session of Federal Agency of Scientific organizations of Russia, dedicated to introduction of software principle of management of academic science. The following persons participated in the event: Lyudmila Ogorodova, Deputy Minister of education and science of the RF, Mikhail Sonkin, Deputy Governor of Tomsk region for scientific and education complex and innovative politics, representatives of Siberian department of Russian Academy of sciences and directors of academic Scientific and research institutes.
Starting the Forum Lyudmila Ogorodova told that social relations in the sphere of education and science change dramatically. Progress makes the state and scientific community to search for new forms of organization of research activity.
Lyudmila Ogorodova also highlighted: “We transferred from resource economy to ideas economy and economy of hi tech production. Human potential becomes the main development resources. Strategic documents developed in Russia today and concept of law “About science” first of all, give priority to personality, it’s creative element and intellectual potential”.
According to Deputy Minister, it’s time to transfer from science expenses distribution to management of results of scientific activity.

Nobel laureates will speak at Russian Festival of Science
In Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation there was meeting of Organizing committee of Russian Festival of science. This year it will be from April 18 till November 30.
Dmitry Livanov, Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation, highlighted starting the meeting of the Organizing committee: “We understand the important mission of the Festival of science: its role in increasing prestige of scientific knowledge and respect to science can hardly be overestimated today in pupils’ career guidance. Within 10 years the scale of the event increased dramatically, and now it has both scientific and social meaning. It’s important for us that the Festival increases interest to science and respect to profession of scientist”.
Also the following persons participated in the work: Viktor Sadovnichy, Rector of M.V. Lomonosov MSU, Oleg Bocharov, Head of Department of science, industrial politics and entrepreneurship of Moscow, and representatives of some regions and universities of Russia as well.
They discussed the aims and tasks of the Festival of science-2016. Its aim is to attract attention of society to scientific and research works and increase attraction of science and education.
According to the organizers, 2,5 mln people will participate in the events of the Festival in 2016.
The events that will take place in Fundamental library of MSU, Central exhibition complex Expocenter and many other Moscow areas will the main ones. More over events are to be in Barnaul, Irkutsk and Kaliningrad.

Dmitry Livanov was a key speaker at the meeting of Ministers of education of Council of Europe. On April 11, 2016 in Brussels there was a meeting of Ministers of education of Council of Europe. It is a traditional event when heads of education system discuss the achieved success and determine priorities of actions for next years. This year Minister of education of 24 countries participated in it – Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Netherlands, France and other European countries.
Dmitry Livanov, Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation, was the key speaker at plenary meeting “Democratic civil consciousness education – challenges on European and international levels”. Basic subject of his speech was about realization in Russia of Frame UNESCO program “Education 2030” according to which Ministry of education and science of Russia gradually enters the policy aimed at inclusive and equally accessible education and gender equity, paying special attention to the quality of education.
Dmitry Livanov highlighted: “In Russia there are representatives of more than 140 nations, and teaching is realized in 100 national languages of our country. It requires development of international cooperation, inter-confessional mutual respect and education of good knowledge of history and respect of history and culture of the country in children on all levels of education”.
The head of Ministry of education and science told about directions of Russian education policy aimed at formation of stoutness against antisocial behavior in children, including increase of responsibility and qualification of teachers and amendments in programs for secondary school in the sphere of social studies and history.

Project office 5-100 launches new website studyinrussis.ru aimed at attraction foreigners to Russian universities. It is for foreign prospective students and their parents. For the first time all necessary information about possibilities of studying in leading Russian universities is collected on one resource.
There is a unique option for users - quick search of education programs. Now there are more than 2800 programs of higher and postgraduate education on the website. Step-by-step instructions to matriculate in Russian university presented as infographics is another know how. Prospective student also can easily find the list of obligatory documents, information about allowances for free education, academic competitions and events in the sphere of education.
Alexander Povalko, Deputy Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation, commented on the new initiative: “Internationalization including attraction of the best students from other countries – is one of the most important directions of development of Russian universities participating in project 5-100. According to statistics, in 2014-2015 academic years more than 220 000 foreign students studied in Russian universities, and in some universities participating in project 5-100 this index reached 20% from the total number that meets the figures of the best world universities. The website will help to select a university, education level and training direction quickly, learn about costs of any program and even write a test for knowledge of Russian language. Information is available in three languages – Russian, English and Chinese.
Subject of national security
On Tuesday in Moscow there opened the 3rd Russian meeting of teachers of history and social studies, visited by more than 500 teachers. The event attracted special attention of country authorities: Vladimir Putin, the President, sent a message to the participants of the meeting, and Sergey Naryshkin, Speaker of State Duma, Dmitry Livanov, Head of Ministry of education and science, and other high officials spoke at the opening ceremony.
Meeting of teachers was started by Sergey Naryshkin, Speaker of Parliament, who deals with history issues as social job. Since May 2009 till February 2012 he headed commission for measures against attempts of perversion of history to the detriment of Russia, in 2012 he headed Russian historical community, and since 2013 he provides realization of Presidential initiative about unique concept of teaching history in school. Speaker of Parliament reminded teachers that they deal with the matter of national importance: “Especially you understand real price of national peace and harmony”. Then he turned to the issues of international relations: “You see that unfair Ukrainian politicians try to mutilate our common history, searching for and coloring examples of breaks and suppressing facts of uniting. They struggle with their own past even in geographic names, and make people of Ukraine to love traitors and butchers”.
Moscow Polytechnic University was founded on the base of Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering and Ivan Fedorov Moscow State University of Printing Arts
In accordance with information of press service of Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation, the order of the department about foundation of Moscow Polytechnic University was published. New education institution was made on the base of Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering and Ivan Fedorov Moscow State University of Printing Arts by reorganization in the form of merger.
Press release informs that Andrey Nikolaenko, Rector of Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering, is appointed as rector of the new education institution. All procedures connected with creation of the new university are supposed to be finished till September 1, 2016.
And it is highlighted that the form and terms of education for all students of Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering and Ivan Fedorov Moscow State University of Printing Arts if they continue studying in Polytechnic University, will be saved in complete correspondence with the current licenses for education activity.
According to Andrey Nikolaenko, Moscow Polytechnic University will be developed as an open project and an area for effective cooperation between universities, branches and science-driven business, school and institutions of additional education for children. Even today the education institution actively participates in development of modern professional standards.
Government will launch popular science magazine
In the White House they hope to increase interest of Russian citizens to science
The Government works on the issue of creation of popular science magazine that according to civil servants, shall attract attention of society to the issues of science and achievements of Russian scientists in different areas. The magazine will be edited in 48-pages paper variant and e-version available for tablets and smartphones with систем iOS, Android and Windows. The magazines shall be issued at least 6 times a year. Circulation and price at the paper version are unknown yet, and online version will be free.
As they explained in Ministry of education and science to “Izvestiya”, regardless broad development of TV and internet, printed popular science editions are still popular both among mass readers and the persons who are interested in any highly specialized directions: psychology, culture, geography, history, philosophy etc.
In the Ministry they told that promotion of scientific knowledge in contemporary and comprehensible form is one of the ways to popularize science. A popular science and education edition that could attract attention of society to resolution of vital issues of contemporary science, can become this very form. An edition issued regularly (at least 6 issues a year) with vast distribution in regions and available in internet and in the form of e-version, can be on optimum alternative. E-version of the edition shall be available for tablets and smartphones with систем iOS, Android and Windows.
